5 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup sugar

3 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed

1/2 cup shortening

2 teaspoons active dry yeast

1/4 cup warm water

2 cups buttermilk


In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and set aside.
